Abstract:
This dataset consists of surveys referenced in space and time for Red-eyed Tree Frogs (Agalychnis callidryas; taxonomic serial number TSN 208130) for a low elevation rainforest fragment at La Suerte Biological Fieldstation, Costa Rica, Central America (latitude of 10.43827, longitude of 83.78617). The surveys were done during early rainy season in a swamp of the 'large forest' (old-growth) and the following time period was covered: 29-30th June 2010, and 4-14th June 2011. The data are geo-referenced with a GPS and organized in an MS Excel sheet providing all relevant details. The reported species data provide 'presence only' information (and can provide derived absence). Some photos exist also. These data are from explorative surveys and were not obtained with any research design, do not indicate the complete survey effort, and do not directly represent abundances or population trends. However, findings provide important information in regards to occurrences and distribution in space and time, all provided in a digital open access format. Some other species such as Parachuting Leaf Frog (Agalychnis saltator; taxonomic serial number TSN 208134) and Scarlett-webbed Tree Frog (Hypsiboas rufitelus; TSN 774482 also called Hyla rufitella) were also encountered during these surveys.
Purpose:
To provide first confirmed results for Red-eyed Tree Frogs (Agalychnis callidryas) for areas that otherwise have poor data inventories, and which are widely underpublished and which are of conservation relevance. Such biodiversity data are for instance important for monitoring species and range changes of diseases, invasive species and population changes during climate change, as well as for assessing research priorities in the wider context.

Data collection consists of opportunistic geo-referenced surveys during early raini season in 2010 and 2011 with a head lamp and GPS for Red-eyed Treefrogs (Agalychnis callidryas) in the low elevation fragment of La Suerte, Costa Rica. Some sightings were documentated with photographs (contact authos for details), and all sightings for this species got verified. Other species were also encountered, and a more complete species inventory is coming forward with other investigators.
